POOL.....again!

Anybody tired of these pool posts? SORRY! In an effort to make a Michael Phelps out of this kid, we pretty much frequent the pool! I'm hopeful that one day we won't have to spend the first 15 minutes screaming. Again, we went armed with lots of toys to distract him. Here he is testing out his new Mickey Mouse ring:I thought this was funny....he's blowing out like Mommy was trying to inflate the darn thing.
And here's the dreadful beginning. Notice 2 things: 1) his chest and arms are splotchy and red b/c he was so mad/terrified and 2) he is still wearing his Crocs.
Well, we finally had to "just do it". Mommy took the shoes off and dragged him out into the water kicking and screaming....literally. And what do you know, it wasn't so bad!
It was actually kinda fun!
YAY, he's "swimming".
Cheesing it up with mommy:
and with Grandpa:
My brave little man jumping off the side:
Lunchtime:
As soon as he scarfed down his PBJ (cut into a flower shape....don't ask!), he was ready to go back in! The next few don't need a description. They're clearly just my scared little man having a blast! FINALLY!

The highlight of the day was going down the big slide but we didn't bring the camera with us for that one! I was SO proud of him! He saw a few kids and Alli do it and he was so excited! I put him on my lap the first 2 times and went down with him. All I heard the whole way was "WEEEEEEEEEEEE". He LOVED it! Then he got super brave and went on his own (I think Mommy was way more scared than he was). I was waiting in the pool below to catch him and much to my surprise he came down head first screaming, "WEEEEEEEEEEEEE". After about 3-4 more slides, we were all pretty tired and ready to go home for a nap! We had so much fun today! I'm so happy that he really liked the pool but I'm sure next time is gonna start off the same way again. Keep your fingers crossed for me :)

  1. Isn't it funny how we have to convince our kids to actually have fun?? Cate's the same way. We leave for the beach in 2 weeks, so I'm hoping she turns the corner :)

  2. Good luck Cory! I'm trying to prepare him now for our beach trip in July. I think he's gonna still hate the actual beach (and we're afraid it might be gross from the oil spill by then)....but thankfully our house also has a great pool! I have a feeling that's where we'll be! Well, that AND the Coach store :) haha!
